Tomorrowland 2014 Token Bag

Created for Tomorrowland’s landmark 10th-anniversary edition in 2014, this official token bag is a small but particularly evocative piece of festival memorabilia. The 2014 edition took place under the theme “The Key to Happiness”, an elaborate world of keys, mechanisms, inventions and hidden mysteries that was carried throughout the festival’s visual identity and collectible objects. The anniversary was significant enough for Tomorrowland to celebrate across two festival weekends, marking ten years since its beginnings in 2005.

Unlike the large and elaborate Treasure Case sent with the festival bracelet, the token bag was a practical accessory designed for use during the event. Tomorrowland's physical tokens formed part of the on-site festival experience, being carried by visitors for purchases inside the festival grounds. Bags such as this offered a convenient way of keeping these small pieces together while simultaneously becoming a souvenir of the edition.

Design and details

The surviving example shown here is made from a soft, suede- or velvet-like brown-grey fabric, giving the pouch a much more luxurious appearance than a conventional festival coin purse. Its deliberately muted, earthy colour palette is complemented by golden detailing, fitting closely with the antique and fantastical styling used for The Key to Happiness.

The front is dominated by the familiar Tomorrowland butterfly-and-eye emblem, executed as fine gold line embroidery rather than a printed graphic. Directly underneath is the year 2014, making the bag immediately identifiable with this specific edition. The reverse contains another important detail: a small crowned shield bearing the number 10, referring to Tomorrowland's tenth anniversary.

Contemporary surviving examples confirm that the 2014 Treasure Case was created specifically around The Key to Happiness and contained the festival bracelet together with a key-themed presentation.

This makes the token bag an interesting companion collectible to the better-known Treasure Case. While the Treasure Case was primarily connected to receiving the festival ticket, the token pouch represents the actual on-site experience: an accessory intended to be carried and used while exploring Tomorrowland.
